At Tholkappiyar Tamil School, a proud initiative of Tamil Sangam Hampton Roads, we follow the comprehensive curriculum and textbooks provided by the American Tamil Academy (ATA). This ensures our students receive structured, age-appropriate Tamil language education that aligns with internationally recognized standards. Each course is designed to nurture language skills, cultural awareness, and a strong foundation in Tamil literacy, guided by ATA’s proven academic framework.
Age Limit:
Minimum age: 8 years.
Eligibility:
Must have completed Tamil Grade Level 4, or must already possess the following skills:
Ability to read and comprehend sentences
Ability to write sentences
Basic grammar knowledge (singular and plural forms, verbs, nouns, pronouns, tenses, verb types, and the eight types of case suffixes)
Objective:
To read and comprehend prose passages
To understand basic Tamil grammar
To translate from English to Tamil and from Tamil to English
Language Skills:
To read, understand, and write sentences with clear pronunciation and accuracy
To perform translations; to read culturally and literarily rich texts and clearly express ideas
To study sentences, ideas, words, and grammar in comparison with the English language
To understand the richness of the Thirukkural, read it clearly, and explain its meaning
வயது வரம்பு:
குறைந்த பட்சம் 8 வயது.
தகுதி:
அ த க நிலை 4 முடித்திருக்க வேண்டும் அல்லது ஏற்கனவே வாக்கியங்கள் படித்து புரிந்து கொள்ளுதல்; வாக்கியங்கள் எழுதுதல், இலக்கண அறிவு (ஒருமை, பன்மை, வினைச்சொல், பெயர்ச்சொல், சுட்டுப்பெயர், கால நிலைகள், வினை வகைகள், மற்றும் எட்டு வகையான வேற்றுமை உருபுகள் அறிதல்) போன்ற திறன்கள் பெற்றிருத்தல்.
நோக்கம்:
உரைநடை வாசித்தல், புரிந்து கொள்ளுதல்.
அடிப்படை தமிழிலக்கணத்தின் புரிதல்.
ஆங்கிலத்திலிருந்து தமிழுலும், தமிழிலிருந்து ஆங்கிலத்திற்கும் மொழி மாற்றம் செய்தல்.
மொழித்திறன்:
வாக்கியங்களைத் தெளிந்த உச்சரிப்போடு பிழையின்றி படித்தல், புரிந்து கொள்ளுதல், எழுதுதல்.
மொழி மாற்றம் செய்தல்; பண்பாடு மற்றும் இலக்கியம் சார்ந்த பாடங்கள் படித்து தெளிவுபட கருத்துக்களை வெளிப்படுத்தல்.
வாக்கியங்கள், கருத்துக்கள், வார்த்தைகள் மற்றும் இலக்கணத்தை ஆங்கில மொழியோடு ஒப்பிட்டுப் பயிலுதல்.
திருக்குறளின் தொன்மை அறிந்து, தெளிவுபடப் படித்து விளக்கம் சொல்லுதல்.
